Socrates is quoted as saying: “The unexamined life is not worth living.” He is saying that thinking about the purpose and conduct of one’s life is essential to our humanity. In a sense, this is what our church does during Lent, the forty day period before Easter.

Lent is a time of year when we are offered a chance to pause and reflect on our walk with God and our journey in life. We are invited to make a special effort to look inward and recognize that as Christians we are a part of this world, but also a part of the next.

We have a chance to make sure that we are spending our time and efforts wisely to ensure that we are moving toward and preparing for the Kingdom to come. We take this special time to make adjustments to our spiritual and earthly paths.

Historically, the way many in the church have done this is referred to as the “disciplines” of Lent. These may include fasting, prayer, and alms giving. These disciplines have a common goal - to help us look inward at our discipleship. We are invited to see ourselves more clearly, to repent, and to focus on Christ.

Our church is warm and welcoming - come as you are!

Everyone is welcome to join us in our weekly praise and thanksgiving experience. Our Worship incorporates elements of the traditional Lutheran Book of Worship liturgy with special music, prayer and celebration.

The service is printed in the bulletin each Sunday in its entirety.
